Our Commitment

Varsity Cook is committed to digital accessibility for all users, including people who rely on assistive technologies. We continually improve the platform so every student and home cook can register, vote, watch, and compete without barriers.

Compliance Status

This platform is designed and maintained to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We audit new features against these guidelines and treat any gap as a bug to fix.

Built-in Accessibility Features

  • Semantic landmarks (<header>, <main>, <nav>, <footer>) on every page.
  • Skip-to-content link as the first focusable element.
  • Visible focus rings on all interactive elements (:focus-visible).
  • Tap targets sized at least 44×44 px on touch devices.
  • Color contrast of 4.5:1 or greater for body text.
  • prefers-reduced-motion respected for animations.
  • Descriptive alt text on meaningful images; decorative icons hidden from screen readers.
